The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock makes me sad. And not because it is sad itself -- which it is -- but because I could have written it (less eloquently, of course). There is a line in the poem that is especially hard to swallow.
"I should have been a pair of ragged claws
Scuttling across the floors of silent seas."
